A Look Back: “Leftover Beatles Memories”

graphic-a-look-back-8582669 Welcome to “A Look Back,” where we review and celebrate select clips from the overwhelmingly voluminous video catalog and the many splendid works of Stephen T. Colbert over the years.

In honor of Paul McCartney’s upcoming appearance on The Colbert Report this evening, let’s take a fond “Look Back” at Stephen, Dana Carvey, and Robert Smigel giving us their best Beatles impressions on the fantastic (but short lived) Dana Carvey Show. Stephen is great at doing startlingly pitch-perfect impressions of less-impersonated celebrities, like Gregory Peck, Robert Duvall — and his George Harrison is no exception. Take a look:

I love the way he forlornly looks off into the distance after he says “I killed a man once […] it was all taken care of by the record company, so no one found out.” George seems to really wish someone knew about the fact that he “killed a man.”

We here at Colbert News Hub are feverish with anticipation for the show with a real Beatle tonight. Do you think we will hear any Beatles songs on the hour long special? If so, is there anything in particular you would like to hear performed (duetted? *fingers crossed*)
