Last night, Craig Ferguson announced that he will be stepping down as host of ‘The Late Late Show’ in December. Since 2005, Ferguson has hosted ‘The Late Late Show’ and has provided the world of late night with some of the most unique, off-the-cuff and often heart-felt monologue’s, done away with the blue interview cards each night, challenged guests to try for a ‘Golden Mouth Organ Award’, delighted fans as ‘Prince Charles’ and ‘Sir Michael Caine’, and has most recently been joined by Secretariat the dancing pantomime horse, and his robot skeleton sidekick Geoff Peterson.
Ferguson began laying the groundwork for his departure earlier this year, but was unaware that David Letterman was preparing to announce his own plans to retire in 2015. “It wasn’t contentious. I was just like, ‘I feel like I’m done,’” Ferguson told Variety. “We were all fine and were tying up loose ends. And then Dave surprised everybody with the announcement (April 3) and that threw a spanner in the works. And I had to sit and keep my mouth shut while speculation raged wildly.” (A successor to ‘The Late Late Show’ has yet to be named).
While many saw Ferguson as the heir to ‘The Late Show’, he has continued to reiterate that he has no desire to take over for Letterman, stating that the 11:35PM time slot was never his ambition. “I had no desire — none — to do that job,” Ferguson told Variety. “I could barely keep it together at 12:30, never mind 11:30. […] It really wasn’t what I aspired to. Doing this job wasn’t something I aspired to, either. I kind of fell into this.” Despite the recent vacancy that has opened up at the 11:30PM time slot on Comedy Central, Ferguson doesn’t see another late night hosting gig on the horizon, telling Variety that, “I don’t know if I would ever do a late night talk show (again). It just doesn’t feel like that’s the way I’m headed.”
What do you think Hubsters? Who would you like to see take over the reigns at ‘The Late Late Show’ (12:35PM / CBS)?

Welcome to Better Know a Guest, your weekly guide to the wonderful and diverse array of personalities appearing on ‘The Colbert Report’ and ‘The Daily Show’ each week.
Linds is hard at work with her studies, so this weeks BKAG is a Hub Staff team effort.
It’s been a busy weekend in the world of news, current affairs and celebrity with LA Clippers owner David Sterling in hot water over racism remarks, tornadoes cause widespread damage and death across the Midwest, eternal bachelor George Clooney put a ring on it, and Instagram playboy Dan Bilzerian threw a naked porn star off a roof.
Meanwhile in the world of fake news, friend of the show Audra McDonald returns to The Report along with a political science professor, director and slam poet / broadway actor. Over at The Daily Show Jon will sit down to chat with Met hall of famer, an author, two college professors and a stand-up comedian returning to his roots.
Let us know which guests you’re most looking forward to this week, have a vote in our weekly poll, and share some of the news stories you are hoping the shows tackle this week.

“The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” has tapped comedian and writer Michael Che to become its newest correspondent, joining the roster of “The Best F*&#ing News Team Ever!” from the Emmy® and Peabody® Award-winning show in June.
Currently a writer on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live,” Michael Che (@CheThinks) has enjoyed a meteoric rise as a stand-up comedian. In 2013, Che was named by Rolling Stone as one of “The 50 Funniest People” and as one of Variety’s “10 Comics to Watch.” The year prior, he was crowned the winner of New York’s Funniest Stand-Up competition at the New York Comedy Festival. The New York Times describes him as possessing “a reflective, laid-back stage presence with jokes that draw as much from his city upbringing…as from blunt, insightful points that bring the abstract into focus.”

When news stories fall through the cracks, we here at Colbert News Hub catch it for a post we call “In the Press”.
I’m going to say this will be the last “Late Show” edition, however, I’m predicting that we will have a section devoted to Late Show press in this post from now until after he has settled in at CBS.
In this edition, celebrities are still weighing in on how Stephen will do, the business of the new late night landscape and so much more!
