When Stephen made a reference to the fact that he only has one female writer, as he accepted his Emmy in August, for “Outstanding Variety Show”, he then apologized, “for some reason”. What I thought he was trying to say when he said that was actually more the opposite. I don’t think he should have to apologize at all. He has done nothing wrong. However, many people in the media seem to disagree judging by the number of recent articles commenting on that one line in his Emmy acceptance speech. So we here at the Hub have delved into this issue, analyzed it and here are the results. The opinions expressed in this piece are mine and not necessarily representative of Colbert News Hub as a whole.

Welcome to Better Know a Guest, your weekly guide to the wonderful and diverse array of personalities appearing on ‘The Colbert Report’ and ‘The Daily Show’ each week.
Linds is hard at work with her studies, so this weeks BKAG is a Hub Staff team effort.
It’s been a busy weekend in the world of news, current affairs and celebrity with LA Clippers owner David Sterling in hot water over racism remarks, tornadoes cause widespread damage and death across the Midwest, eternal bachelor George Clooney put a ring on it, and Instagram playboy Dan Bilzerian threw a naked porn star off a roof.
Meanwhile in the world of fake news, friend of the show Audra McDonald returns to The Report along with a political science professor, director and slam poet / broadway actor. Over at The Daily Show Jon will sit down to chat with Met hall of famer, an author, two college professors and a stand-up comedian returning to his roots.
Let us know which guests you’re most looking forward to this week, have a vote in our weekly poll, and share some of the news stories you are hoping the shows tackle this week.

2012 was definitely a year to remember for all of us in Colbert Nation. It seems as though the show started to steer its own course this year. The tosses have ended and the show seems to be breaking away from its’ connection to Jon and The Daily Show. This year’s election show, much like in 2010, was not a joint venture between The Daily Show and TCR. In addition, there were many more “out of character” moments where it just felt as if Stephen couldn’t help but bust out of his persona and be himself. Moments like Hobbit week and dozens of musical acts and performances. As we look back to 2012, what do you all think of the direction the show took this year and where it may head next year?
Even though the show did appear to be cutting the ties to the Daily Show, we had some great moments between Stephen and Jon. It was almost just enough to satisfy those of us who still love to see these two great men working together.
Here is a recap of the best and most memorable moments in 2012.
