Michael Charney, author of the political satire “Chasing Glenn Beck: A Personal Experiment in Reclaiming Our Hijacked Political Conversation”, announced today that he will contribute ten percent of the profits from the sale of his book to Steven Colbert’s Super PAC, Americans for a Better Tomorrow, Tomorrow.
“Stephen Colbert has hit on something very important,” Charney says. “The ways in which our political processes and conversations have been hijacked end up disempowering the majority of Americans. Colbert’s Super PAC—satirical though it may be—sends a powerful message, one that I agree with and fully support.”
Charney’s book, recently released by Riddle Brook Publishing, explores many of the same ideas that Colbert promotes through his Super PAC, in particular, the notion that the most extreme voices with the deepest pockets are taking over politics. Charney refers to this problem as “electile dysfunction.”

When asked whether he thought Colbert would appreciate the donations, Charney grinned. “He might very well think I’m doing it just to get on his show,” he said. “And, honestly, I wouldn’t mind that at all. But the truth is that Colbert is doing something that no one else has dared to do. He’s pulling back the curtain and letting us see what the Wizard really looks like.” Charney also wants everyone to know that neither Mr. Colbert nor the Super PAC has endorsed his actions or opinions. “I’m doing this on my own,” he added. “It’s my way of showing support.”
