Before 'Report's' End: A Fan's Request

As I mentioned in my recent, historic taping reporT, Mr. Colbert himself acknowledged that we have less than 100 episodes of The Colbert Report to warm ourselves by before the Joy Machine shuts down for good. In light of these distressing circumstances, one becomes reflective. What are things one would like to see before year’s end? After the jump, check out an uber-fan’s list of ultimate requests.

The Word(s), Words and more Words — they are admittedly hard to write, but we all love the clinching line at the end of the essay that makes the commentary all the more biting.

This more-than-appropriate bit is from The Word: Happy Endings:

“Everything ends– the job you hate, the money you owe, tiny pork pie hats, planking, your second mortgage, the national debt, summer. [Unless Republicans Filibuster Autumn.]”

Formidable Opponent — Another difficult-to-write segment, but I just want to see this one more time. The best example of this segment occurred when debating “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” during the very special Iraq shows. However, I think something can be made formidably opponent-ative enough for one last go ’round.

Esteban Colberto — Let’s face it, Esteban is sexy. Maybe it’s the pastel suits, or the chicas, or the feeling you get from him that maybe he is involved in human trafficking — we deserve to see him cha-cha a little more.

Colbchella — I know Stephen has boundless musician opportunities when he takes over The Late Show, but there was something particularly magical about Colbchella ’012 on The Intrepid. The elaborate set, the open air venue, and the throngs of fans that made it such a great time. Similarly, ’013′s pared down format served the show well, because it led to the Daft Punk-less extravaganza (complete with media reaction overload.)

If I could wave a magic wand, something like ’012′s version would be good, but please, TCR folks, don’t let the summer go by Colbchella-less.

These are just a few ideas, but what do you think? What would like to see on the show before Stephen goes off to ride the rails with Biscuit? Are there any guests that you always wanted to see in the curious environment of the Report? Sound off in the comments. “Before ‘Report’s’ End: A Fan’s Request”, out of 5 based on 3 ratings.
