He has written several books including: The Omnivore’s Dilemma, In Defense of Food: An Eater’s Manifesto, and The Botany of Desire. He is also a former executive editor for Harper’s Magazine, contributor to the New York Times Magazine, and he co-starred in the documentary Food, Inc..

Eric Schmidt (Co-author: “The New Digital Age: Reshaping the Future of People, Nations and Business”)
Eric Schmidt is Executive Chairman of Google. Prior to becoming the Executive Chairman, he served as the Executive Chairman’s officer for a ten-year period from 2001-2011. Before joining Google Schmidt was the CEO and chairman of the company Novell, and the chief technology officer of Sun Microsystems, Inc. He also was elected to the National Academy of Engineering in 2006, inducted to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2007 and is a trustee for the Institute of Advanced Study. He is also a chair member of New American Foundation.

Danica Patrick (NASCAR Driver)
Danica Patrick is the only woman to win the race at the IndyCar Series. She is also the most successful woman in the history of American car racing, along with being the highest placed woman to compete in the Indy500. She began her driving career in 2002 when started driving for Rahal Letterman Racing in the Barber Pro Series before moving on to race in the 2003 Atlantic Championship. In 2005 she began racing in the IRL IndyCar Series, and 2011 she made her move to race in NASCAR.

Gene Robinson (Author: “God Believes in Love: Straight Talk About Gay Marriage”)
Gene Robinson is an author and former Episcopalian Bishop of the Diocese of New Hampshire. He is also the first openly gay priest who was consecrated into a Bishop. Robinson’s consecration was very controversial at the time, though during the election to consecrate him the won by a significant margin. He first got ordained as a deacon in 1973, and later became elected as Bishop in 2003. He was also a subject of the documentary For The Bible Tells Me So.

She’s also appeared in several movies including I Don’t Know How She Does It and Drive.

Salman Rushdie ia a novelist and essayist. His work is said to be a combination of historical fiction with magical realism. There is also a major focus on all the connections the West and the East have.. He has written several books including Midnight’s Children, The Satanic Verses, The Moor’s Lat Sigh, The Ground Beneath Her Feet and The Enchantress of Florence. His most recent book Joseph Anton is a memoir of his life during the controversy of The Satanic Verses which included a death threat from the country of Iran, and a going into hiding.

Bassem Youssef is a satirist, while also being a cardiac surgeon. His show El Bernameg has drawn many comparison to The Daily Show, with many comparisons being drawn with Youssef and Jon Stewart. His show began in the days of Egyptian revolution as a series of YouTube videos, but it later started being broadcast on television. The show has been considered fairly controversial by its own government leading to, among other things, death threats. Youssef hasn’t been deterred from the show and keeps going strong.

Senator Joe Manchin
Senator Joe Manchin is the Democratic junior Senator of West Virginia. He won a special election in 2010, then won a full term in 2012. Prior to winning the Senate seat, he was the Governor of West Virginia. He has also served as West Virginia’s Secretary of State, and as a member of both the West Virginia Senate and the West Virginia House of Delegates.
