While karenatasha is away this weekend, she has entrusted me to take care of her baby, the BKAG post. Although I cannot be as thorough and awesome (and/or thoroughly awesome) in this write-up, thanks for reading. Let’s gear up and read up on this week’s guest list on the Report and The Daily Show.
_________________________________________________________________________________
Monday, 10/24: Jon Huntsman, Jr.
This week’s first guest is a Bigun’: Former Ambassador to China, Former Utah Governor, and son of billionaire packaging magnate Jon Huntsman, Sr. If that weren’t enough, Mr. Huntsman is currently seeking the Republican Presidential nomination, making him the third Republican candidate to appear on the Report this year (fyi, if all active candidates appear Stephen gets a free frappacino at Starbucks). Although you might not know he’s running, based upon the minimal exposure he has received from the lame-stream media. It could be that he is fairly sane and normal, and perhaps has the taint of that icky “ability to make reasonable arguments” all over him and stuff.
>
The oldest of nine children, Mr. Huntsman worked in business world for many years, and then, following in his father’s footsteps, became Governor of Utah from 2005-2009, maintaining a 90% approval rating. Of the Mormon faith, he spent his two years of service in Taiwan, and speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese. He also served as President Obama’s Amabassador to China from August of 2009 and resigned at the end of this April this year, presumably to pursue his presidential ambitions.
He and his wife Mary Kaye have seven children, 2 of whom are adopted: a little girl from China, and a little girl from India.

Tuesday, 10/25: Susan Saladoff
This will be an interesting interview, I’m sure Stephen’s character is going to be raised all the way up to 11. Ms. Saladoff spent 25 years as a trial lawyer, specializing in injured plaintiffs v. corporations. She ceased her practice in 2009 to make the movie Hot Coffee, which highlights as an example the famous 1994 lawsuit filed by Stella Liebeck against McDonalds. The film addresses the issue of perceptions about frivolity and lawsuits through other case examples as well.
Ms. Saladoff began her legal careers with Trial Lawyers for Public Justice, now known as Public Justice, and served as president. She was named Oregon Super Lawyer for five consecutive years from 2006 to 2010. She is a graduate of Cornell University and George Washington University Law School.
Check out the film’s website.
An NYT article about Ms. Saladoff and the movie is here.

Wednesday, 10/26: TBA
TBA is random, mysterious and whimsical, neither here nor there but everywhere and all at once without a care in the world…or maybe that was Fate. Whoops, sorry. Stay tuned on Wednesday to see who’s stopping by. I will try to update as info becomes available.
UPDATE: Guest is writer for The Atlantic, Taylor Branch.
Thursday, 10/27: Toby Keith
Well, we all know who old friend of the show Toby: he was dangerously close to being kissed by Stephen under the mistletoe on the Colbert Christmas special, but Toby wasn’t having any of that stephenfoolery.
Toby, whose real name is Toby Keith Covel, is a country singer, songwriter, record producer, and actor, who has recorded 13 studio albums, two Christmas albums (finally, a musical guest who has a little something in common with Stephen!), and compilation albums as well. He has reached Billboard Country’s number one chart nineteen times; his biggest hit was “Beer for my Horses,” a 2003 duet with Willie Nelson.
In addition to the high honor of appearing on Stephen’s Christmas special, he has appeared on the Report in 2006, 2007, and 2008. I believe he ought to be considered the Resident Country Musician of the Colbert Nation.
Check out his new album, Clancy’s Tavern here.
Also, his website. He is having a 48 hour complimentary listening party, if you’re interested. Although I am a bit dubious of any party lasting 48 hours.

And now, let’s check in with our good friend, Jon Stewart!
Monday 10/24: Kevin Clash
Dude, it’s Elmo! The world’s best known puppeteer (next to Jim Henson, or Carol Spinney, perhaps) who was famously unmasked by Oprah. Clash, who has had a lifelong passion for puppetry, met puppet builder Kermit Love in 1978, and officially joined Sesame Street in 1984. A close protégée of the late great Jim Henson, he is most famous for developing the character of Elmo, who has his own special segment of the show each episode, and voices other characters as well. He is also an executive producer. He wrote a 2006 autobiography entitled My Life as a Furry Red Monster: What Being Elmo Has Taught Me About Life, Love and Laughing Out Loud.
UPDATE: I mean “fixed.” Thanks to Mariana312 for helping me out on this one! Mr. Clash will be promoting his new documentary, Being Elmo: A Puppeteer’s Journey, in which he describes his journey of becoming one of the best known puppet characters in the country. The documentary, directed by Constance Marks, is getting rave reviews from the indie circles, and seems like a cool thing to check out.
Please visit the doc’s website here.
And a nice New York Magazine article here as well.
Tuesday 10/25: Walter Isaacson
This is what is called a “get.” Mr. Isaacson has penned, what is sadly the most awaited biography. I say sadly, because it follows the recent passing of Mr. Jobs. Steve Jobs is an authorized biography undertaken by Mr. Issacson in 2009; Mr. Jobs contributed and gave interviews in support of the publication, likely sensing his need to nurture his legacy. The biography’s release date was hastened by Steve Job’s death, and has already pre-ordered like hotcakes. The book comes out tomorrow.
From Wikipedia:
“He is the President and CEO of the Aspen Institute, a nonpartisan educational and policy studies organization based in Washington, D.C. He has been the Chairman and CEO of CNN and the Managing Editor of TIME. He was appointed by President Obama to be the Chairman of the Broadcasting Board of Governors, which runs Voice of America, Radio Free Europe, and the other international broadcasts of the U.S. government.”

Wednesday 10/26: Lisa Randall
Ms. Randall is another one of those smarty pants astrophysicists from Harvard. I think Jon is getting his free Frap when he gets 9 astrophysicist punches on his show, and Neil Degrasse Tyson can’t account for all of those. Seriously, Ms. Randall studies particle physics and cosmology, and is best known for the Randall-Sundrum model. She graduated high school with Brian Greene, a fellow physicist and String Theory aficionado.
Ms. Randall works on string theory, supersymmetry, and extra dimensions of space. I remember her blowing all of our minds about the extra-dimensions theories when she visited the Report in 2008. I also remember her having great hair, incidentally.
Her book, Warped Passages: Unraveling the Mysteries of the Universe’s Hidden Dimensions was part of NYT’s 100 notable books of 2005 and also awesome.
Ms. Randall has new book out, entitled, Knocking on Heaven’s Door: How Physics and Scientific Thinking Illuminate the Universe and the Modern World. You can pick it up here and instantaneously accelerate brain cell growth.
Thursday, 10/27: TBA
I am getting some conflicting info on this, some sources say Judge Andrew Napolitano, the TDS’ web page has not been updated. So, I think it’s gonna be me. No, no, I think it’s definitely gonna be you.
UPDATE: It is Fox News Channel’s legal analyst Judge Andrew Napolitano.

Overall, looks to be an amazing week of shows. Happy viewing, and don’t forget to join us for the episode guides. I will be more than likely to be your tour guide, along with my other cohorts in Colbert. So follow us, and be sure to stay on the runner!
