In Weekend News: The FBI and the DOJ are investigating the hack into the Democratic National Committee’s emails. Sources have stated that Russia is behind the hack. In an interview with “Fox News Sunday” Hillary Clinton stated, “We know that Russian intelligence services hacked into the DNC and we know that they arranged for a lot of those emails to be released and we know that Donald Trump has shown a very troubling willingness to back up Putin, to support Putin.” Speaking of Donald Trump and Russia, in an interview with George Stephanopoulos on Sunday, Donald Trump said that Russian President Vladimir Putin won’t make a military move into Ukraine, even though Putin already has done just that, seizing the country’s Crimean Peninsula. Trump’s ties with Russia are being called into question.

At a campaign rally in Miami on Saturday, Clinton and Kaine took to the stage in their first joint appearance together. Kaine greeted the crowd in Spanish, saying, “Bienvenidos a todos,” which translates to “welcome to everyone.” On Sunday, Debbie Wasserman Schultz announced that she will step down as the chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee after the convention. This Week In the News: It has been a harrowing week in the United States for police brutality. Within a day of each other, two African-American men were killed by police officers and both incidents were caught on camera. Alton Sterling was shot and killed on July 5th in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Philando Castile was shot and killed on July 6th in a suburb of St. Paul, Minnesota. These senseless murders sparked outrage throughout the country. There were peaceful Black Lives Matter protests in many cities in honor of the two men. Unfortunately, a protest in Dallas turned violent when a sniper killed five innocent police officers on July 7th. What do we do as a nation to make sense of this? My heart aches for the police officers who were killed. And my heart aches for Alton Sterling and Philando Castile whose lives were needlessly taken by police officers who abused their authority. How many more times will a cop unjustly take the life of a black person? There is deep systemic racism among some police officers and it must be stopped. I am reminded of a quote from Robert F. Kennedy: “This much is clear: violence breeds violence, repression brings retaliation, and only a cleansing of our whole society can remove this sickness from our soul.”

In weekend news: The eyes of the world are on the Brexit. The UK has voted to leave the EU, causing shockwaves around the world. UK Prime Minister, David Cameron, resigned from his office on Friday and the stock markets in Europe and the US have been sharply falling. Hillary Clinton leads Donald Trump in two new polls released on Sunday. An ABC/Washington Post poll finds that 51% of voters said they would vote for Clinton while 39% said they would vote for Trump. This election is anyone’s guess, but let’s hope that The Donald keeps declining in the polls. On Sunday “Shark Week” started on The Discovery Channel, marking its 28th anniversary. Check it out, unless you are planning a beach vacation! Stay cool, Hubsters.

In weekend news: “Star Trek” actor Anton Yelchin sadly passed away at the age of 27. There has been an outpouring of love from his fellow actors and his fans. Our thoughts go out to Anton and his loved ones. Donald Trump appeared on “Face the Nation” and declared that the United States should think about racial profiling. “Well, I think profiling is something that we’re going to have to start thinking about as a country,” Trump said, adding, “It’s not the worst thing to do.” He is the bigot that keeps on bigoting. Sunday night is game seven of the NBA finals. Steph Curry and the Warriors face off with LeBron James and the Cavaliers. This is the big one that all basketball fans have been waiting for!

As a new week of shows is upon us, let us take a moment to reflect on the tragic shooting in Orlando, Florida that occurred during the early hours of Sunday morning. It was the worst mass shooting in United States history, an incomprehensible hate crime, and an abhorrent act of terror. Our thoughts and prayers are with the innocent victims of this heartbreaking event. I am sure that Stephen Colbert will address this senseless tragedy and perhaps try to bring a little bit of joy into our very heavy hearts. May peace be with the victims and their loved ones.

Earlier today, President Obama made a statement on the tragic shooting, saying, “This is an especially heartbreaking day for all our friends — our fellow Americans — who are lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender. The shooter targeted a nightclub where people came together to be with friends, to dance and to sing, and to live. The place where they were attacked is more than a nightclub — it is a place of solidarity and empowerment where people have come together to raise awareness, to speak their minds, and to advocate for their civil rights.” The President continued, “So this is a sobering reminder that attacks on any American — regardless of race, ethnicity, religion or sexual orientation — is an attack on all of us and on the fundamental values of equality and dignity that define us as a country. And no act of hate or terror will ever change who we are or the values that make us Americans.”
