Saturday Night Live The Ambiguously Gay Duo and Bighead 3 3/4-Inch Action Figures in Tin Tote – Convention Exclusive
Inspired by Saturday Night Live’s “The Ambiguously Gay Duo” cartoon, this gift set includes an awesome tin tote and three action figures of key characters from the series! The colorful, collectible 8 5/8-inch wide x 7-inch tall x 4-inch deep tote showcases series-true artwork on all sides, including images of Ace and Gary flying, Bighead on his throne, and “The Ambiguously Gay Duo” logo. Inside the metal tote you’ll find three very cool 3 3/4-inch scale action figures of “superheroes” Ace and Gary, and the duo’s arch-nemesis, Bighead. Appearing just as they do in the cartoon, they feature articulation at the neck, shoulders, and hips so you can reenact your favorite scenes.
Available at San Diego Comic-Con at the Entertainment Earth booth (#2343) or for pre-order on their online store.
With Stephen Colbert about to take David Letterman’s throne and abandon his Bill O’Reilly-like persona, it’s time for a little reminder that he can do other characters as well. Prior to making a solo name for himself, he and his fellow Steve (i.e. Carell) were Saturday Night Live’s Ambiguously Gay Duo of Ace and Gary, who confounded foes with suggestive poses while never actually confirming their personal life details.
This summer, they can insert themselves right into your heart and cram onto your computer with this bobblehead-style toy that attaches to your monitor (and probably other things). We’re delighted to be debuting the first pictures of it right here on TR. Best of all, you don’t even have to go to Comic-Con for this item to penetrate your warm household – additional supplies will be available for $11.99 at Entertainment Earth.

Writers and self-proclaimed satire nerds Sharilyn Johnson and Remy Maisel are pleased to announce their upcoming book Bears & Balls: The Colbert Report A-Z, to be released later this year.
The unofficial fan guide will serve as the ultimate viewer’s handbook, taking fans through notable (and forgotten) moments from the past nine years.
“We’re excited to finally share our encyclopedic knowledge of the Colbert Report in a context that won’t cause people to slowly recoil in fear,” Johnson says.
Johnson is a veteran entertainment journalist and blogger specializing in comedy, whose credits include the Toronto Star, Winnipeg Free Press, NOW Magazine, and the Huffington Post. Despite living in Toronto, she’s travelled to 12 Report tapings, and is thrilled that her 13th will now qualify as a tax writeoff.
Maisel is the co-author of the upcoming book Is Satire Saving Our Nation? Mockery and American Politics. She writes for the Huffington Post and has been interviewed by the Wall Street Journal and Politico. She maintains that the book is definitely not just an elaborate ruse to justify watching Stephen’s dressage training segment 147 times for “research.”
Bears & Balls will be published independently as an e-book this November for Amazon Kindle (sorry, Stephen) and additional platforms TBA. A print edition will follow in 2015.
Welcome to Fan Art, where we highlight the glorious manifestations of Stephen, as rendered by fans and talented artists.
The Shadow Studio creates startlingly accurate silhouettes of its subjects, which run the range from Harry Potter, to Disney princesses, and our heroes Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert, of course. The artist, whose username is inknpaint, elaborates on how these amazing portraits are concocted: “I’m a silhouettist and cut-paper artist. All pieces are cut by hand using surgical scissors and sometimes a scalpel.”
To celebrate Independence Day, we have the darling entry below: “I thought I’d cut silhouettes of two of my favorite modern patriots for the occasion: Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert.”

“A while ago I built a Stephen Colbert puppet for season two of my web series Dotboom. The idea was that I would attempt to get the real Stephen Colbert to provide his voice as a guest-star.”
So explains Ontario, Canada based puppeteer Brian Hogg. On his behance website, Mr. Hogg details his concerted effort to both build this adorable puppet and create a groundswell of support to get our fearless host to lend his voice for his “Stephen Colbert Puppet Challenge.” Although Hogg was unsuccessful, the result is charming, don’t you think?

Heads up Hubsters, writer and performer Sharilyn Johnson will be bringing her autobiographical solo show ‘Fake News Fangirl’ to The Winnipeg Fringe Festival from July 16 – 27 at Prairie Theatre Exchange’s Colin Jackson Studio.
Daily Show host Jon Stewart is the long time object of Johnson’s fandom affections. From her ‘90s teenage crush developed in the basement of a suburban Winnipeg bungalow, to close encounters with her hero in New York City, ‘Fake News Fangirl’ shatters audience perceptions of celebrity idolatry through humour, honesty and tales of outrageous fan behaviour.
In Fake News Fangirl, Johnson recounts the thrill of meeting Stewart, the startling experience of coming face to face with the real Stephen Colbert and her ill-advised hotel tryst with a Daily Show correspondent. Once swimming in fandom’s deep end, she finds herself in danger of sinking, a struggle anyone who’s ever loved something too much can relate to.

Today is holiday time at Colbert News Hub because we are celebrating Stephen’s birthday today! Yay! And it’s a big one, too, because he is marking a half century on this earth. But Stephen has nothing to fear, for he looks fantastic and has enough energy to power many small villages.
So on behalf of our webmaster Katt, our Hub staff, and Hubster community, have a wonderful birthday, Mr. Colbert. We hope you get to enjoy it to the fullest. Thanks for all you do to keep us smiling every day.
Feel free to add your birthday congratulations in the comments.
