Stop by CNH’s Water Cooler, where fellow Hubsters commiserate and comment on current events, or whatever you like, while our boys Jon and Stephen are away.
Hello Hubsters! For our American friends, hope you had a great Thanksgiving. For our Jewish friends, hope you’re having a great Chanukah as well. Let’s gather ’round the water cooler and huddle up before the show returns next week.

Looking forward to another edition of the “cOlbert Book Club.”

Hey Hubsters! Hope you are all fairing well on this two week break. As we prepare for summer’s last hurrah this Labor Day weekend, and the children are scurrying back to class, we are also anticipating the Return of Jon Stewart. I hope our bearded friend will be refreshed and ready for another go around at TDS studios, as we have missed him so. I wonder how John Oliver will settle back into correspondent role, after doing such an admirable job as interim host. What do you think?
In Stephen’s world, we have another “cOlbert’s Book Club” episode coming up on September 10th; I wonder if they will metamorphose the set again, as they did with The Great Gatsby show. It’s going to be hard to top that episode, but undoubtedly Stephen will. Have you all been reading something from Salinger (but not Catcher?)
Also the Emmys on September 22nd. (Collective groaning.) Yes, I know, I know, not typically our favorite night in the TCR fandom, but perhaps we can stomach another viewing and see if we can get a writing award at least. Something to cross our fingers for, right? As The Colbert Report achieves its eighth anniversary on October 17th, perhaps Emmy will see to it that this stellar program is properly honored. Either way we hardcore fans will still be here.
Read on and share your thoughts during this break time.

Welcome to CNH’s Water Cooler, where fellow Hubsters commiserate and comment on current events, or whatever you like, while our boys Jon and Stephen are away.
While we of the Colbert News Hub always approach break weeks with bated breath, in the hopes that national/international news will not explode in our boys’ absence, we are continually proven to be correct in our apprehension. Egypt decided to have a big old coup, with the military ousting President Morsi and the entire country grappling to find a successor. To understand the complex socioeconomic and political underpinnings to these heady events, let this 12 year old Egyptian boy break it down for you.
What’s on your mind these fine break weeks? Wouldn’t we like to know! Read on and comment.

Happy Memorial Day! I hope that all of you had a great holiday weekend, kicking back, perhaps with the proverbial barbecue with the fam/friends, as we remember our fallen heroes. After all, honoring the troops is tops on Stephen’s priority list so it should be ours, too.
I spent the weekend in Minneapolis with my children at the Mall of America, watching them brave roller-coaster like rides for the first time in their young lives – with minimal, but slight and still quite palpable pangs of terror. All was well and as they are thoroughly exhausted and asleep, I now find myself penning my colb-friends as we prepare for what is sure to be an exciting viewing summer ahead. Let’s delve in.

Hello Hubsters! On behalf of all of us here at the Hub, Happy New Year to you! Undoubtedly we all look forward to TCR coming back full force next week, and seeing what Stephen and co. have in store for us. Needless to say, the headlines have been nonstop since the show went on break; there was no holiday lull this year. Grab a paper cup and let’s chat.

It seemed for a while that there was not going to be much to write about for this week’s Water Cooler post, but then the gosh-darned news cycle picked up again, and here we are, awash in stories. Over the weekend my home town of Chicago hosted this year’s NATO summit, prompting protests — with some of my countrymen (citymen?) bloodied, scuffling with police in some of the city’s most iconic spots. Contrasting this with the adoring throng that accompanied President Obama on his big win on election night in 2008, one can see that even in Obama headquarters-land, all is not necessarily peaceful in the land of Oz. To their credit, Chicago’s finest did show admirable professionalism and restraint, so big ups to them not interfering with people’s right to protest.

Hey all! Hope you are having a great week so far. Although the studios are dark on 54th Street in NYC, the news cycle keeps a churnin’, with the Puerto Rican primary on Sunday inching Mitt Romney that much closer to the nomination. The primary coverage also allowed us to check out a shirtless Rick Santorum, something we ladies have been dying to see. Tuesday is my home state of Illinois’ primary, which is being seen as the tipping point, make-or-break state…of the moment. Of course, the backdrop to the Republican’s continued march forward to the nomination is our President Obama, who is quietly ramping up his campaign mega-machine (as anyone on his email list can attest), and also, endearingly, enjoying Guinness with the Common People in our country’s capital on St Patty’s Day this past Saturday.

Welcome to CNH’s Water Cooler, where fellow Hubsters commiserate and comment on current events, or whatever you like, while our boys Jon and Stephen are away. This is also a chance for those of us friendly with one another to become friendlier than we’d ever hope to imagine, and not at a truck stop restroom. And no, I am not being weird, I am making a Strangers with Candy reference. I know it’s Sunday, but wake up people!
