Today in Fan Art we examine the work of Wisconsin-based artist Steve Moore, who also refers to himself as “PXL8R.” Steve creates portraits of subjects using perler beads, the kind that are super-strong and typically fused together in crafty projects. His work was featured in a recent post on Wired’s design blog, and features the visage of someone you may know:

Moore pixelates regular old pics, and then carefully selects various colored beads to re-create the pixelated image. He will “perler-ate” any image for interested customers, and has quite a portfolio of some famous faces. Do check out Mr. Moore’s other celeb renderings in the Wired post, or at his Etsy shop. There, you can have a custom built Stephen portrait of your very own! Next to Stephen, I am partial to his portrait of Snoop Dog.
