Can you believe it’s been one whole year since our humble little blog was born? I know I can’t. And what a day for it to. The official teaser trailer for ‘Skyfall’ premiered at the Cannes Film Festival. My two favourite fandoms have come together to make May 21st a wonderful day of joy and celebration!!
I can still remember sitting at the dinning room table on my laptop, avoiding the pile of books I was supposed to be reading for an essay on Alexander the Great. Stephen was sailing across the Atlantic en route to Bermuda (we hoped) and No Fact Zone was heading into retirement. Oh yeah, and the 2011 Apocalypse was upon us … unless you are a Mayan, in which case that is this year. Somehow, in my mind, these were the perfect conditions needed to embark on this crazy ride and start a little thing we like to call ‘Colbert News Hub’.
It takes a special type of person to instill this much loyalty and passion into a fanbase. This site would not at all be possible if it were not for the amazing talent, kindness and joy that is Stephen Colbert. We can only hope that we live up to mission of praising and honouring Stephen Colbert and his work, and bringing together like minded fans from around the globe into our cosy little Hub. Stephen made us fans, but on our little Hub we have become friends.
It is a joy to log into the site day after day, and not only blog about Stephen and his latest and greatest antics, but to read how much joy and laughter he brings into the lives of others. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the Hubsters,Lurkers and social media fans out there for their love and support!! You have made it a joy to continue to work on this site day after day, and to think of new creative ways to make this site a bigger and better place. This site would be a lonely little place, with a solemn tumble weed blowing through, in the deep dark depths of the internet, if it were not for our hardworking and devoted Hub Staffers – Justine, Cate, Karenatasha, Llama, CNHelper and Kris – who each week, give up hours of their spare time to help with blogging, researching and working on the business and creative sides of the blog. And they do all of this for FREE!! Any money we make from the sale of our Hubster Merch goes directly to the maintenance and upkeep of the site.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Scott Sherman, Lisa Rogak, Frank Lesser, Michael Charney and Remy Maisel for taking the time out and doing an interview with our site. It has been an absolute honour to get the opportunity to speak to your about your work!! Also a big thank you to @JamesMartinSJ, @infurnari and @MonclairFF for their Twitter shout-outs, and to ‘Doonesbury’ and ‘Morning Joe’ for support our DonorsChoose giving page.
