Google have paid to tribute to the late author Maurice Sendak, by creating an elaborately wonderful animated Google Doodle in celebration of his 85th birthday.

The Doodle, formatted as a spinning wheel takes viewers on a journey through some of Sendak’s best known works, starting out with Max sailing to the land of ‘Where the Wild Things Are’, before venturing into the surreal cityscape of ‘In the Night Kitchen’, before ending with the birthday party from ‘Bumble-Ardy’.

The Rosenbach Museum and Library which ‘seeks to inspire curiosity, inquiry, and creativity by engaging its broad audience(s) in exhibitions, programs, and research based on its remarkable and expanding collections’, is currently asking the Rosenbach Community to donate gifts to help support upcoming exhibitions and programs. Each donor who donates more than $10 may pick their favourite item in the Rosenbach Collection, and a representation of that item will be placed on a “shelf” in the Museums lobby.

Currently, the shelf is home to items from James Joyce, Maurice Sendak, and more. But so far, there are no items representing Stephen Colbert or ‘I Am A Pole (And So Can You!)’.

In honor of the classic children’s book “I Am A Pole (And So Can You!)”, the National Association of Life Coaches awarded author Stephen T. Colbert with “Most Important Children’s Book Ever”.

NAOLC recognized the poetic allegory for pioneering a new genera: motivational books for children. The mission of NOALC is to help people live their dreams. Colbert’s book advances that cause through a highly creative approach.

NAOLC presented Colbert a twenty five-pound trophy which eternally enshrines his book between two inches of solid Lexan.
