The Colbert Couch slipcover which first debuted on NFZ back in January is now up for sale on ebay! I had astutely pointed out back then, that true Colbert-philes would have gone with a futon, but I think this couch cover is pretty impressive: after all, it is a startling likeness. Usually, artistic renderings of Stephen end up looking like Ed Helms doing an impression of Stephen.
However, this one is pretty good. The artist explains his aha! moment:
In December of 2010, I had the idea. It was something that had to be done. I was watching Stephen Colbert like I do whenever I accidently miss the Daily Show. I don’t really remember what he was yammering on and on about, but then it came to me (like a new episode of the Daily Show made available on OnDemand): The Colbert Report would be infinitely better if I were sitting on his face.
And it’s true! Stephen Colbert is more enjoyable viewed perched upon his comfy comfy face. Now, it can be yours.
Check out the ebay listing, there are pictures of gleeful Bostonians sitting on Stephen’s face. Now all of that joy can be yours! It is designed for Ikea’s Klippan Sofa, so if you have one in your tastefully decorated living room, you’re fair game.
Alas, the auction ends on September 23rd. We are kind of hoping a Hubster gets it, so he/she can celebrate astride Stephen’s face with a glass of champagne.
