In November, Montclairites and other fans can see Jimmy Fallon in conversation with Stephen Colbert at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center. The event, on Sunday, November 24, is a fundraiser for the Montclair Film Festival.
Tickets go on sale on Friday, October 18, at 10 a.m., at 1-888-GO-NJPAC, at njpac.org, and at the NJPAC Box Office, One Center St., Newark. Premium VIP seating at $250 per ticket can be purchased directly through the MFF site, montclairfilmfest.org.
All proceeds will benefit the third annual Montclair Film Festival, which will occur April 28 through May 4, 2014.
Members of the Montclair Film Festival can buy tickets NOW!!.
“One of the most attractive things about our membership plan is that members always get early notice of screenings, and opportunities to buy tickets, as well as discounts,” Montclair Film Festival Chairman Bob Feinberg told The Montclair Times today. Tickets to last year’s fundraiser at the Wellmont Theater with Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart sold out “in 10 minutes,” recalled Feinberg.
In a release from MFF, NJPAC President and CEO John Schreiber stated: “We’re thrilled to welcome our friends from the Montclair Film Festival to Prudential Hall for a unique evening featuring two of the funniest people on earth. The Festival has quickly become a singular cultural event, and this unique program with Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Fallon will be a highlight of the season.”
Tickets are priced from $59 to $250, to enable people to attend “without breaking the bank,” Feinberg said. NJPAC’s added seating has allowed MFF to keep those prices low, said Feinberg, adding that he hopes MFF will hold some events in the Wellmont this year as well.
There are about 1,000 more seats at NJPAC than at the Wellmont, said Feinberg, which should give more people a chance to get in,. This will be the third year that Montclair resident Colbert has participated in the fundraiser. In 2011, Colbert spoke with Jonathan Alter. In 2012, Colbert interviewed Comedy Central colleague Jon Stewart.
“Jimmy Fallon is another tremendous talent,” said Feinberg. “A lot of people know him from ‘Weekend Update’ on ‘Saturday Night Live.’” Others remember him from his cameo in the film “Almost Famous,” and many know him from his own show, “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” on NBC.
“[Fallon] is a great interviewer, and also tremendously musically talented. He performs with the band on the side of the stage of his show, The Roots. He does an incredible Neil Young impression, and a tremendous Bruce Springsteen impersonation. Stephen Colbert is tremendously talented musically as well. He was recently in a production of ‘Company,’ which will be airing on Channel 13.”
Feinberg said he is quietly hoping that a musical performance might be thrown in to the conversation.
