When news stories fall through the cracks, we here at Colbert News Hub find them for a post we call, In The Press.
Hi y’all! I hope you’ve all enjoyed these past few weeks as much as I have, because I am absolutely loving the new show!
Fun fact: There’s been over one month of The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, but at the end I’m still expecting to hear “That’s it for the Report” every single time.
Not-so-fun fact: There are no new shows next week… But fear not! You needn’t go nine full days without Stephen Colbert in your life! You can just take your time and read all these articles. There are fantastic background stories, there are adorable kids singing the Preamble of the Constitution, there’s hummus controversy, and much more!

Before the hilarity ensues (trust me, it will), turn the speakers down a bit due to content! 😉
First, the late-night gang gets together to offer Stephen advice for getting comfortable with his new gig at The Late Show, as well as a few of the guys offering some additional “secondary” advice that is presented before him as well.
In this clip, Conan has some very unique advice for him, as he tries to set him up with an interest in acquiring plots of land and real estate in an up and coming area, other than Florida. Ha!

In a brilliant article from Vanity Fair magazine’s October issue entitled ‘Why Late-Night Television is Better than Ever’, we get to see what we sometimes secretly crave and want the most – late night talk show hosts genuinely having a great time around one another. Long gone are the days of the supposed ‘late-night wars’ (or at least we are led to believe the rivalries are non-existent thus far) and through many recent late-night-host transitions, we are seeing more of a comfortable camaraderie amongst the newest scene of night-time legends in the making.

When news stories fall through the cracks, we here at Colbert News Hub find them for a post we call, In The Press.
This month’s edition is unsurprisingly Letterman-heavy. David Letterman ended his 33-year late-night run on a ratings high note, as nearly 14 million people tuned into his last show. His retirement gave the media an opportunity to reflect on the late-night format and its place in American culture.
As for us Colbert fans, we are now entering the final stretch before The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’s September premiere. The Ed Sullivan Theater has been cleared and is undergoing renovations; the staff has already started working on the show; Stephen made his first official appearance as Late Show host at the CBS upfront presentation; and the promotion for the show should be starting any time now (the sooner the better!).

On the Season 1 finale of “Last Week Tonight” John Oliver covered a news story about a company which has constructed a “salmon cannon” to fire salmon over a damn wall to help them on their way up stream to spawn.
Naturally John and the crew constructed their very own “salmon cannon”, but instead of firing the ‘stupid fish that doesn’t know how rivers work’ up stream, he fired salmon into the face of just about every television personality he knows, from Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert to Jimmy Fallon, Seth Meyers, David Letterman, Wanda Sykes, Tom Hanks and even poor old Homer Simpson and R2D2 took walloping.
(Thank you to karenatasha for the Tip!)
