In an interview on the Midwest music podcast Pants OFF!, former Pavement and Silver Jews member Bob Nastanovich reveals that Pavement have been invited perform on ‘The Late Show when Stephen Colbert’.
Pavement’s supposed to play … if we can get it all together, we’ve been invited to play on the new Colbert show in like September. So that might be cool. Hopefully it’ll come off, right now it seems kind of 50/50. I don’t even know what we’re gonna play or anything like that, but they invited us to do it a few weeks ago and we’re trying to schedule it all out. Everyone else in my band, they’ve got kids and stuff.
Representatives for Pavement, however, tell Billboard this is “not true at all,” saying the band has no plans to reunite for a tour or a TV appearance.
However, fans hold out hope of a future reunion, with the banding teasing “great news” on their Facebook page early this year. Despite having performed on ‘The Colbert Report‘ in 2010 during their reunion tour, nothing has thus far been announced.

Amy Sedaris as Princess Carolyn and Stephen Colbert as Mr. Witherspoon
Stephen Colbert returns as guest star in Season 2, Episode 6 of “BoJack Horseman”. In the episode, entitled “Higher Love”, Stephen provides the voice of Mr. Witherspoon, a bull frog and the boss of Princess Carolyn, an anthropomorphic pink Persian cat voiced by Amy Sedaris.
Previously, Mr. Witherspoon appeared in Season 1, Episode 7, “Say Anything“.
Episode Synopsis: “PB Living goes bankrupt and Mr. Peanutbutter’s agent is found dead from auto-erotic asphyxiation, so he gets a job at Lady Foot Locker. BoJack gets awkward when he says, “I love you” to Wanda, and Princess Carolyn gets an opportunity when she discovers a not-so-dead author.”
The episode is available to watch on Netflix.

Upon the exciting news that NASA’s New Horizons spacecraft had taken breathtaking photos of former-planet Pluto and its moon, Charon, Stephen Colbert called in the one person best suited to weigh in on these events: rock star astrophysicist and Friend of the (Stephen-hosted) Show(s) Neil deGrasse Tyson. In a new Late Show video, the two have a hilarious and somewhat contentious chat, with Stephen ribbing Dr. Tyson for his support of demoting Pluto from its planet status back in 2006. They also munch on Klondike bars and attempt to drink Tang, while heralding the beautiful images taken by New Horizons and continuing the Pluto debate.
It’s great to see Stephen push the geek-out pedal all the way to floor, as he does love him some outer space-related topics. Also wonderful that Dr. Tyson would show up on such short notice and basically do a Colbert Report-esque guest spot in the Late Show’s temporary offices. I hope this means that we will continue to enjoy the expert analysis we took for granted on The Colbert Report, starting with tried and true friends-of-the-old-show.
