Since the Late Show experience is still new, I will talk a little bit about the pre-show experience for TCR veterans who haven’t been yet or for Colbert newbies. (Welcome!)

I arrived for the taping at 12noon. There were only about 5 people in line and I figured maybe at least one of them would be standby, so I was pleased.

It was an unusually warm day which made me happy. (60F and partly sunny) I was wearing a sweater, had a fleece and was carrying a hoodie sweatshirt. Didn’t care that it was supposed to be warm. I went to a test taping in August and the theater was FREEZING!

I guess this is kind of like an “interview reporT”. Since this interview is not widely available, some of you may not be able to hear it, so since I am sort of the resident Stern fan, I get to listen to it over and over, but I swear it’s only to make sure you all can get more out of it. 😀

I have been listening to Howard on and off since 2000. I’ve been a Stephen fan since 2009 and I’ve been waiting that long, hoping to see, or rather hear Stephen as a guest on Howard’s show. Stephen has never been on the show before this week. Jon Stewart, Conan O’Brien, Steve Carell, even John Oliver have all appeared before. It’s been perplexing to me as to why Stephen had never been on before now. I’ve often wondered if Howard didn’t like him or if Stephen didn’t want to come on due to Howard’s nature. I still don’t know the answer, but that doesn’t matter so much now. Howard does like Stephen and if Stephen ever had reservations, I guess he got over them.

Stephen was interviewed for an hour and a half and that’s with no commercial breaks. That’s about the maximum time a guest has ever been interviewed. It’s usually about an hour, so I was happy to get the max.

In honor of David Letterman leaving, but still keeping it all about Stephen, I have come up with a top ten list. This is the top ten guests that never appeared on The Colbert Report, that should now appear on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert in September. People that for whatever reason never appeared on the Report, but that I personally would love, love, love to see together with Stephen now that he is in the big leagues.

This is my list, but who would you Hubsters put on your lists? Discuss in the comments. I may just have to change my list if you guys come up with some good names.

This was my sixth time going to see the show and by far the most emotional and the most eagerly anticipated. I was so anxious about it that I actually have two reporTs to…um…reporT.

My BONUS Special Taping report: December 16, 2014.

When we got to the studio, they announced that they weren’t going to be able to use the studio due to some sort of emergency that they didn’t get into. They bussed us over to another place, a classroom at a college. They had to cancel the musical guest due to the change and they did a round table panel discussion instead and were going to have a bunch of pundit-types for guests. They only let ticket holders in; no guests of ticket holders and no standby.

Tonight, author Phil Klay drops by the Report to discuss his new book, “Redeployment”.

As I sit here on my couch, drinking my coffee on this day, December 18th, the day of the very last Colbert Report episode, I know I will remember this day always. There is so much more going on in my head than I can fathom. I got home yesterday from a trip to New York where I went to see my final taping of the show from Tuesday, the 16th. (taping reporT to come soon) Now as I sit here trying to organize my thoughts on that and balance it with today’s momentous event, it almost seems too much to handle.
