First Lady Michelle Obama will visit THE LATE SHOW with STEPHEN COLBERT on Monday, September 28 (11:35 PM-12:37 AM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.
“It’s always an honor to have the First Lady,” said Stephen Colbert. “Better than that, it’s always fun!”
The First Lady will highlight “Let Girls Learn,” an initiative that seeks to help the more than 62 million girls around the world, half of whom are adolescent, attend school and complete their educations. Launched by the President and First Lady Michelle Obama, “Let Girls Learn” champions community-driven solutions and public-private partnerships to help reduce the barriers that prevent adolescent girls from achieving their full potential.
Also, the First Lady will highlight her “Reach Higher” initiative, an effort to inspire every student in America to take charge of their future by completing their higher education, whether at a professional training program, a community college, or a four-year college or university. The First Lady’s “Reach Higher” initiative aims to rally the country around the importance of post-secondary education by exposing students to college and career opportunities, making financial aid and college affordability a reality, and inspiring and supporting academic and summer planning.

When Stephen made a reference to the fact that he only has one female writer, as he accepted his Emmy in August, for “Outstanding Variety Show”, he then apologized, “for some reason”. What I thought he was trying to say when he said that was actually more the opposite. I don’t think he should have to apologize at all. He has done nothing wrong. However, many people in the media seem to disagree judging by the number of recent articles commenting on that one line in his Emmy acceptance speech. So we here at the Hub have delved into this issue, analyzed it and here are the results. The opinions expressed in this piece are mine and not necessarily representative of Colbert News Hub as a whole.

Bradley Cooper, Stephen Colbert Among Dinner Guests
Attending Tuesday’s State Dinner along with lawmakers and cabinet members, are a list of celebrities, sports stars and civil rights activists.
Headlining the dinner is musician Mary J. Blige, who will perform for the guests. While she told reporters that her last name is French, Blige didn’t disclose what songs she will sing.
Hollywood has a strong showing for the dinner, which will honor French President Francois Hollande. […] Comedy Central show host Stephen Colbert — who will be seated at the head table with the Obamas and Hollande — and actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who portrays fictional vice president on HBO’s “Veep,” are in attendance.

Hello, Hubsters!
Happy Memorial Day to all those who celebrate. I hope you’ve had a fun and relaxing long weekend. I myself have had much time off, first with my sister visiting NYC (we saw David Hallberg in a stunning performance of “Giselle”) and then with me returning the favor and visiting her in Colorado, where I am right now. Ah, vacation time is good, and I certainly hope both Stephen and Jon have enjoyed their well-earned break. But, fortunately for us, their time off is nearly over, and I’m sure we’re all waiting impatiently to have them back and mocking. All in all, it’s been quieter than usual while they’ve been away, so there isn’t one big, you-know-they’ll-cover it story waiting. But with the election coming ever closer, Europe flailing, the continuing political unrest in the Middle East, and events swirling around the Catholic Church, I’m sure they’ll find plenty of material to play with.
It certainly looks like a very exciting (though holiday-shortened) week with great guests for both our boys. So let’s go…. Continue reading
EPISODE NUMBER: 8084 (April 11, 2012)
GUESTS: Michelle Obama
SPECIAL GUEST: Sergeant Bryan Escobedo
SEGMENTS: Amped Up for Michelle Obama |The Word – Whuw How?|Stephen Runs Punditry Drills with a Marine
SUIT REPORT: Slate gray suit| White Shirt | Dark navy patterned tie
VIDEOS: Wednesday, April 11, 2012
I imagine it had to be surreal for Stephen to sitting across from the First Lady of the United States. Whatever side of the aisle you may stand on, Michelle Obama is an impressive figure- highly educated, accomplished, and very compassionate as well. This is clearly evidenced in her support of military members and their families, and her initiative with Jill Biden, Joining Forces. Let’s hope the Colbert Bump gives her project a boost.

Hello, Hubsters!
I hope everyone had a happy Passover, a happy Easter, or just a happy weekend. Great to be back and better knowing Stephen’s and Jon’s guests–although I assure you, I am still in the midst of freelance madness, editing and writing and then editing and writing some more. A little crazy, but basically wonderful.
This weekend has been relatively quiet, considering how super-heated the news has been recently. I myself cannot even guess what our favorite faux pundits will cover on Monday. Well, being surprised is a good thing, and there’s never any shortage of political madness to play with. And this week, as we all know, Stephen has a big guest: Michelle Obama! I’m really excited to see how she’ll do in the hot seat; my suspicion is that she’ll handle it all very coolly and well, with her customary flair. As for The Daily Show, a favorite returns: Ricky Gervais is back yet again. I’m expecting the usual hilarity.
So onward to our guests! Continue reading
