Wal-Mart’s Employee Food Drive
Just when I thought I couldn’t hate Walmart anymore, now they are having a food drive. Oh but it’s not for an outside charity, it’s for Walmart employees. Actually, it’s for Walmart employees to give to other Walmart employees.
I can’t imagine what the Walmart suits are thinking with this. Are they thinking?
Algernon Austin(guy on TV): Today the minimum wage is less than what it was in 1963.
Stephen: Well that just means the minimum wage is vintage.
Then Matt Lauer, who is observing ‘No Shave November’ on ‘The Today Show’, explained what Walmart is doing.
Matt Lauer: Walmart calls the food drive proof of it’s effort to take care of its’ employees.
Thank You Rabbi.
- Why stop at food, Walmart can stop offering healthcare if they just set up a “please vaccinate my child” bin.
America’s Wealth Divide
The U.S. stock market is at an all time high, which is good for not me or the rest of the 99%.
- Yes, the Dow set a new record meaning it got to enter it’s initials on the high score screen.
America’s Wealth Divide – Robert Reich
Mr Reich came on to discuss how we have let the wealth gap get too big and that it’s been getting this way since before Obama took office, even before Bush jr. took office.
Slate’s “Minutes to Read” Feature
Slate.com has a new feature that lets readers know how long it has taken other readers to read its’ stories. Next to the link it says, for example, “3M to read”. This way you won’t waste precious seconds clicking on a link that you wouldn’t want to read all the way through.
I have to admit I kinda like the idea. Although it’s unnecessary, completely unnecessary. People actually complained?
- Slate even saved me time while saving time by writing “m” instead of minute, which saves me precious “inutes”.
Interview – Rick Santorum
We got this:
It’s good right? Sure it is.
Rick: Heterosexuals have lost the definition of marriage. I think the better debate is what marriage is and try to reclaim the institution of marriage as a man and woman coming together to have children and raise them in a way that continues society.
Stephen: What if we just say, you know what … it’s like a neighbourhood that’s gone to cede, we just leave the keys to marriage out front and we go get something better. Gays you can have marriage because at this point marriage seems kinda gay.
Rick: This is the sort of argument I’m making.
Stephen: That is?
Rick: The argument I’m making is we have to reclaim what marriage is.
Stephen: What is it?
Rick: Well, I just said before …
Stephen: I didn’t listen, I’m sorry.
Rick: It’s the union of a man and a woman for the purposes of having and raising children and continuing society. That’s what it’s always been about and it is about a romantic relationship, but it’s more than that. Stephen: What is it not? Because you have previously said ‘It’s not man on child, man on dog or whatever the case may be.’ Is it dog on dog? That’s a quote, did I get that wrong?
Rick: Sort of taken out of context but –
Stephen: Contextualize me.
Rick: What we’re talking about is the relationship that is important for the continuance of society and that’s what we need to focus on.
Stephen: I’ve heard some disturbing news that gay people have children. I’ve heard in some places they can even adopt children.
Rick: Here’s what I would say to that. Every child has the right to their natural mother and father, they have the right to let them give them what only a mother and father can give.
Stephen: What if they don’t have a mother or a father? Wouldn’t it be better for them to have no parents than to be loved by two gay people?
