G’day Hubsters!
You may have noticed that our post frequency has been has been down of late, and I do sincerely apologise for that. There are a few main reasons for this. Firstly, for the past five weeks I have been away studying in Greece, with a brief stop off in Paris and London – all of which are truly amazing places that I cannot wait to go back and visit. Due to my studies I have been unable to spend as much time working on the site as I have wanted to, nor have I been able to keep up with the awesome six degrees activities that have been going on, but I will be doing a catch up ‘Six Degrees’ post in the near future. Thankfully, our awesome Hub Staffers have all stepped up to help me out and keep things running smoothly while I have been gone. Did I mention that our Hub Staffers rock!?!
Unfortunately, in the past months we have lost a number of Hub Staffers who have had to step down from their positions to focus on real life commitments. A big thank you goes out to Justine, Kris and Karenatasha for all of your wonderful help and dedication. We have been lucky enough to have StephenSmile64, Mrc and Elanor Gamgee join our team – all of whom have been doing a fantastic job. But we are still in need of a few more people to help us out here at the site. If you would like to help at the site, whether it be full-time, part-time or some times, please take a look at our jobs page. We don’t mind if you work alone, or with a partner, as long as the task at hand gets done. Don’t worry if you don’t have any blogging experience, we are here to help you learn the ropes and to teach you some new and exciting skills!!
If you are interested in applying for a position or would like to know more, please email me at: [email protected]
Onto the last item of today’s agenda – the site theme. As much as I have liked working with our old theme, the time has come to say goodbye. Cate and I have put in a lot of hard work getting our current theme looking right, but the truth of the matter is, the theme is no longer being updated by its designer and in turn is wrecking havoc with our site. Each time WordPress releases a new update, so do the plugins we use, but eventually they will no longer work or be compatible with our site if it is too out of date, which the current theme is. This is also one of the reasons why some of you have yourselves been experiencing issues when commenting or viewing various aspects of the site.
I am doing my best to find a new theme for the site and to get things back up and running smoothly again, but I am not the expert in this area that I would like to be. Hopefully, the transition to a new theme will only turn a few of my hairs grey, but it would ever so wonderful if I had someone experienced in this area to help me out … just in case I blow something up.
If you, someone you know or someone you have worked with has experience with web development, design and general technical aspects of working and running a website, please shoot me an email to: [email protected].
Hopefully, working together we can get this site back on track!!
If you have any issues, concerns, critiques or suggestions for the site, please feel free to leave them in the comments or send me an email. If there is anything else you would like to address regarding the site that I have failed to mention above, again feel free to leave a comment or shoot me an email!! I look forward to hearing thoughts, concerns and ideas!!
Oh, and of course. No post would be complete without a little eye candy. Enjoy!!
