Six Degrees – July Catch Up

Welcome to the ‘Six Degrees Catch Up Edition’ featuring all the latest happenings and goings on in the world of ‘Daily Show’ and ‘Colbert Report’ staff and ‘Friends of the Show’.

In this month’s catch up we have interviews with J.R. Havlan, Lewis Black, Michael Che and Amy Sedaris, casting news for David Pasquesi, Amy Sedaris and Rory Albanese, new written pieces by Frank Lesser, J.J. The Colbert Report

  • Erik Frandsen (Hans Beinholtz) demonstrated his thorough grasp of ancient Nordic ways – particularly, pillage and plunder – during a recent set at The Minstrel in Morris Township.
  • Frank Lesser has a new humour piece in ‘Slate’, entitled “The Victorian Orphan Diet – And Other, Better Alternatives to the Paleo Diet Craze.”
  • In his two-part series, “Daria the Untold Tale”, John Garrett Andrews details his hiring of Glenn Eichler as the series show-runner, and the evolution of the shows early designs created by J.J. Sedelmaier’s studios.
  • J.J. Sedelmaier has a new article featured on the “13th Dimension”, in which talks about the short lived television series, “The Green Hornet” – the short-lived sister show to ABC-TV’s “Batman” (1966-68).

The Daily Show

  • “Peeper”, written and performed by Laura Grey and Jordan Klepper has been chosen as an official selection of Tribeca Film Festival and SXSW.
  • J.R. Havlan talks to “The Hollywood Report” about the early days of ‘The Daily Show’ with Craig Kilborn, the George W. Bush joke he’s most proud of, and what it’s really like to work for Jon Stewart.
  • Lewis Black was recently a guest on Episode #2 of “Teachers Lounge”.
  • Lewis Black will join Kate Clinton and Lizz Winstead for an evening of thought-provoking humor and engaging conversation in “Comedy, Conversation and Controversy” at 92Y, on Monday September 8th, 2014.
  • Rory Albanese has been named an executive producer of “The Minority Report with Larry Wilmore.”

Friends of the Show

  • Amy Sedaris is featured in the new trailer for Netflix’s new animated series, “BoJack Horseman”. The series follows BoJack Horseman, the most beloved sitcom horse of the 90s – 20 years later – as he trys to find his way through a muddle of self-loathing, whiskey and failed relationships, as he attempts to break back into the entertainment world. The show premieres on Netflix on August 22nd.
  • Amy Sedaris will be returning to the second season of “Alpha House” (Amazon) and the third season of “The Heart, She Holler” (Adult).
  • David Pasquesi (Strangers with Candy) will be joining the cast of the pilot episode of “Cowl Girl” as her arch-enemy, Creepy Petey.
  • The Horsham District Council of West Sussex, England has paid thanks to David Sedaris’s extraordinary time and devotion to picking up litter from around the areas surrounding his home, by naming one of their waste vehicles after him, dubbing it “Pig Pen Sedaris”.
