Stephen Colbert Announces His First 'Late Show' Musical Guest

Kendrick Lamar performs “Untitled” on ‘The Colbert Report’.

Kendrick Lamar will be the first musical guest on ‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’.

Stephen Colbert made the announcement on Monday, August 10th, 2015 at the Television Critics Association summer press tour at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles.

When asked why Lamar was chosen as the shows first musical guest, Colbert replied that he liked that Lamar had been the final musical guest on ‘The Colbert Report‘.

Colbert already announced via Twitter (@StephenAtHome) last week, that George Clooney will be the ‘Late Shows’ first non-musical guest.

“I wish I could’ve done better than George Clooney, but he’ll do as the first guest.” I like George Clooney because he’s a brilliant actor, a great director and he cares about the world. I mean, how many celebrities have their own spy satellite? I want to ask if I can have the keys.” (via TV Guide)

Lamar will join George Clooney as ‘The Late Shows’ first guests on September 8th, 2015 at 11:35 / 10:35c on CBS.
