Stephen Colbert Featured on SNL's 40th Anniversary Special

Stephen Colbert was featured on last nights 40 Anniversary Special of ‘Saturday Night Live‘ on NBC. During a montage of famous faces who auditioned for the show, a blink and you miss it clip from Stephen’s audition was included at the 03:23 – 03:26 mark.

Though unsuccessful in his audition, something that Lorne Michaels still kicks himself about today, Stephen would go onto provide the voice for Ace in the ‘Ambiguously Gay Duo’, which was a apart of the recurring skit “Saturday TV Funhouse”.

Back in 2011, Stephen spoke to GQ about auditioning for SNL as part of the in depth article, ‘An Oral History of the Rise and Fall (and Rise) of “The Dana Carvey Show”.’
