Glamour Magazine implored upon none other than America’s sweetheart Stephen Colbert to be a guest contributor for its September 2015 fall issue.
After a few playful jabs at Glamour for not being chosen as ‘Woman of the Year’ (he previously presented this same award to Mindy Kaling at the Woman of the Year Awards, 2014), he went on to profess his feelings about how women should have equality in whatever role they desire to perform in society, or as he so explains it, ‘Americman manciety’.
In ‘Women: Why I’m For Them‘ (page 354), the incoming late-night host vows “to create a Late Show that not only appeals to women but also celebrates their voices … But I’m going to make a show that truly respects women, because I know that there’s more than one way to be one.”
Gender inequality still exists in many forms and is a rather well-known and on-going hot topic, therefore it was nice to read this article with a light-hearted, classic Colbert spin on it. Also, who could possibly ignore his delightful commentary on the things he equally shares with women a love for:
“I love all the things women love: exfoliating microbeads, period costume dramas, Joe Manganiello’s second row of abs, pay commensurate with my skill set, York peppermint patties, Legolas, the respect of my colleagues, and being warm.
…And physically women can relate to me. I have womanly hips—soft and grabbable, and they really fill out my low-rise Levi’s. I’ve got muffin top for days”
The September 2015 issue of Glamour can be picked up at local bookstores, newsstands and/or wherever mass-volume magazines are sold in your area.
