Ironically, Mr. Stephanopoulos’ other guest will be Rick Perry, with an “e” for easily exceeded. Set your DVRs for 10am/9 central this Sunday morning to see what Stephen’s up to. If you can’t, rest assured I have so check back for the shows highlights and the Hub gossip that’s sure to ensue.

Then, in a “This Week” exclusive, comedian Stephen Colbert is creating a stir with his latest effort to explore a presidential run in his home state of South Carolina. And he is shining a spotlight on the shadowy super PAC organizations playing a key role in the current election battle, as they flood the airwaves with negative political ads.

Colbert comes to “This Week” to explain his campaign stunt, and whether secretive super PACs are distorting the political process.

The interview, with Ted Koppel, is set to air on Monday’s “Rock Center.” NBC released a clip of the chat on Friday. In it, Colbert discusses the difference between a regular PAC and a Super PAC. He, of course, has become famous for the Super PAC he created, although he has now officially handed the running of it to Jon Stewart.

“A PAC can only take so much money, it can only spend so much money, and I wanted to spend unlimited amounts of money and receive, more importantly, unlimited amounts of money, and so my lawyer told me all I had to do was add a cover letter that said that I intend this to be a Super PAC and it was a Super PAC,” he told Koppel.

“So now you can take all the money people are unwise enough to send you,” Koppel said. “Any amount,” Colbert said. “Did you bring your checkbook?” Koppel asked how much he has raised.

“The fun thing about that is I don’t have to tell you,” Colbert said. “…My major donor is none of your damn business.”

Stephen Colbert appeared on “Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn” (2002), a nightly series in which Quinn and four featured comedians tackle social, political, and pop culture issues. Colin and Stephen are joined in this episode by Dave Attell, Nick Dipaolo and Lewis Black.

In this episode Colin and Stephen are joined by Greer Barnes, Jim Norton and the late Greg Giraldo.

Erin Burnett Sings In Awkward Effort To Challenge Stephen Colbert.

Last night on The Colbert Report, Stephen Colbert spent the better part of the first half of his show mocking a late-night failure by Erin Burnett to properly “flick” a graphic from one touchscreen to another. It quickly got Burnett’s attention, apparently, as she had a few corrections for the fake news host tonight– and a challenge for him to come flick along with her.

Recapping the Colbert segment, Burnett played it and turned to the end, where he showed an image of her and asked “CNN, is this your graphic?” Apparently, Burnett explained, it’s not: it’s a CNBC photo from 2005. She understood why he would make that mistake, she explained: “you were excited about your new toy, forgot you were a pretend journalist for a segment.” But Burnett wasn’t looking for a struggle against Colbert, as she defined the “truthiness” to be, and used a Michael Jackson song to make her point: “I want to flick with you.” So it wasn’t so much a confrontational challenge as an invitation to hang out and learn about each other’s flicking abilities (though not so much the part that involves flushing Burnett down a virtual toilet connected to the Colbert Report logo).

This post isn’t exactly “A Look Back” in my view, because my suspicion is that “A Colbert Christmas: The Greatest Gift of All” is destined to become an annual tradition for many, many years to come for all Colbert fans. It’s hard to pinpoint what makes this special so great, be it the well-written music, or Stephen’s gleeful performance, but my guess is on the celebrity collaborations we see throughout, particularly with Jon Stewart and Elvis Costello.
