Tickets for the Late Show with Stephen Colbert are in high demand and will generally sell out within days of, if not the day of their release. Tickets are available from the 1iota website, and are released one calendar month at a time. Their release is announced on the Late Show’s official Twitter and Facebook pages, approximately three to four weeks in advance. If you plan on visiting New York on a certain day, continue checking these sites, as extra tickets have, on occasion, been announced the day of the taping.

VIP tickets are occasionally posted for auction on eBay and other charitable websites, with the proceeds raised going to charity. Ticket packages can include 2-4 tickets, backstage passes, and on occasion a (brief) “Meet and Greet” with Stephen Colbert. If you purchase these tickets, you will get priority entrance and access to the best seats.

Things to Remember Before Attending a Taping:
- You and your guest(s) must be 16 years old or over to attend a taping.
- Tickets are non-transferable.
- You can only attend one taping every six months.
- All shows are overbooked to ensure capacity, and no one is guaranteed entry.
- A government issued photo ID with visible date of birth is required for admission of all guests.
- Bring your confirmation e-mail confirming that you have tickets. It’s great to keep it with you (or on your smart phone or tablet) in case something goes wrong.

The following timeline outlines the check-in process for ticket holders.
- 3:00PM: Check-in opens
- 4:00PM: Priority ticket holder deadline
- All arrivals after this time will be submitted on a first-come, first serve basis with the general ticket holders
- 4:00PM: General ticket check-in starts
- 4:30PM: Deadline and check-in closes for all ticket holders
- 5:00PM – 7:00PM: Audience warm up commences, followed by the taping of the show

The recommended arrival for each taping will be clearly printed on your ticket, however, should you wish to sit close to the front of the stage it is recommended that you be in line between 11AM – 12PM (ET).

The Late Show tapes Monday through Wednesday nights at approx. 5:30PM (ET).
When Is Friday’s Episode Taped
Two episodes of the Late Show are taped on Thursday. The first taping takes place at approx. 3:30PM (ET) and will air on Thursday night, the second taping commences at approx. 6:30PM (ET) and will air on Friday night.
During the summer of 2017, the Late Show will be testing the “summer Friday format” in which Friday night’s show will feature a newly taped opening and monologue along with highlights from the weeks shows.
In light of this, only one taping will take place on Thursday night at approx. 6:00PM (ET).
How Long Does a Taping Last?
Tapings usually last between 60-90 minutes. Once entering the theatre, guests are required to stay for the duration of the taping, and may not leave the theatre.
What Happens if a Taping is Cancelled?
If a taping is cancelled due to bad weather or for unforeseen circumstances, ticket holders will be notified via email or telephone by the Late Show audience department.

1iota allows users to submit ticket requests for up to three future dates at a time. However, you cannot “rank” which taping(s) you would prefer to attend.

No, ticket requests cannot be transferred to a different date. If you are unable to use your ticket(s) for a specific date, you must decline those tickets, and re-submit a ticket request for a date that you can attend.
