What Was Stephen Colbert Doing During the Moon Landing?

Where were you when the Apollo 11 astronauts landed on the moon? Or if you weren’t around in the late 1960’s, what do you make of that “giant leap for mankind?”

Buzz Aldrin — the second man to walk on the moon — wants to hear from you, as he explains in the video above, released in anticipation of the moon landing’s 45th anniversary later this month.

“The whole world celebrated our moon landing, but we missed the whole thing because we were out of town,” Aldrin jokes in the video. “So now I invite you to share with me and the world, your story or your family’s story of where you were on July 20th, 1969.”

Celebrities are already buzzing about the anniversary, from Bill Nye to Stephen Colbert to John Travolta.

“I was five years old and my mom swears she got me up and she put me in front of the TV with my other ten brothers and sisters,” Colbert says in the video (03:15 – 03:23).
