Well, I am back after being ill, although still slightly on the mend. Last week had some wonderful moments, didn’t it—especially Jack White. Any set of shows that gives me White and a Word can only be considered successful, in my humble opinion.
Our next four shows are bookended by two actresses, one with over 40 years experience and the other only in her twenties, yet running an entire HBO show. In between, we meet two less-famous yet no less influential persons attempting to fix what they see as problems in our political and social system. They have very different perspectives, but should both be fascinating.
And, oh: I will not address that unjust loss. We all know who should have won.
Can you say PEABODY? Can you say TIME 100? Some people get it, some people don’t. But we know the score, right Nation? Right!
And good luck to our very own Remy, who is probably even now trying to figure out Stephen’s clue and win a college visit from Mr. Colbert.
Now, to the guests… Read more

Eagle eyed viewers in the Venice, California area may have noticed election signage eerily similar to the The Colbert Report’s logo, which begs the question: who’s riding Stephen’s coattails now?
It seems that Mr. Steve Collett, a CPA, businessman, libertarian, and fellow Steph(v)en is running for California’s new 33rd Congressional District. Clearly he has attempted to harness the “Colbert Bump,” perhaps hoping to but touch it’s cloak for a bit of good luck. Not sure if that’s going to work, but on Mr. Collett’s campaign website he is seen posing with friend of the show Gary Johnson, so let’s wish him well.

Well folks, The Comedy Awards were taped last night and it was pretty much, unfortunately, a bust all around. Stephen didn’t attend, TCR didn’t win and we weren’t allowed into the press area. However, I refuse to let that get in the way of a nice weekend in NYC.
I did meet up with Karen and we watched as the attendees made their way into the press tent. The way they had it set up was kind of odd. The attendees had to walk across the entrance/exit of a parking garage to get to the press tent. Just at the height of the red carpet arrivals, the Rangers game let out and swarms of people were making their way to the garage to get their cars and were leaving and mucking up the works. As they waited for their cars they were entertained by the passing celebs and one group of hockey fans got their picture taken with a very gracious Matthew Perry.
It didn’t turn out as I expected, but at least now I know a little bit more about what to expect for next year, when Stephen WILL be there. (wags finger) I hope that the reason he didn’t attend was because he knew Jon and crew would win again, and not something more serious.
I did get this raw video of the Daily Show gang (sorry, no Jon) outside the tent and another still shot of the press tent with The Empire State Building in the background. At least I got something ;-D

Stephen Colbert has snagged Tom Hanks to narrate his satirical children’s book I Am A Pole (And So Can You) and The Hollywood Reporter has an exclusive audio clip of Hanks and Colbert together.
The print version and the audio download go on sale May 8, with the audio CD following on May 29. The book will retail for $15.99. Hanks’ eight-minute audio rendition will sell for just $1.49 as a download and $3.98 on CD.
————
On last night’s edition of The Colbert Report, the host previewed the cover, announced Hanks’ involvement and pledged to donate all their profits from the audio book to usvetsinc.org, which helps homeless veterans (see the video below).

We got a Word and a Cheating Death?! My, the comedy gods were good to us last night. I am beginning to wonder if Congress is going to get anything accomplished this election year except for partisan bickering – my magic eight ball says no. Not if we have fantastic groups like “Californians for Population Stabilization” misinforming the electorate and, as, Stephen put it, helping to blame all our country’s problems on immigrants.
