Australian television network, Channel 7 has released its first look promo for the upcoming series of ‘Dancing with the Stars’, hosted by Daniel MacPherson and Melanie Brown (Mel B.).
In years gone by, the shows promo has featured the latest batch of ‘celebrity’ dance victims sexily strutting their stuff to the latest chart topping tracks, including 2012′s ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody’ (These Kids Wear Crowns), 2011′s ‘On the Floor’ (Jennifer Lopez), 2009′s ‘The Boy Does Nothing’ (Alesha Dixon) and 2008′s ‘Take Me on the Floor’ (The Veronicas), each featuring dance related lyrics.
But this year, things are a little different … or should I say, they seem very similar to another celebrity infused dance party that went viral last month?
The promo, with the theme ‘It’s Time to Dance’ is set to Daft Punk’s ‘Get Lucky’ and features the current batch of dance divas showing of their best dance moves in all manner of locations, including the streets of ‘My Kitchen Rules’, the set of ‘Home & Away’ … and a ‘surprise’ appearance on Australia’s version of ‘The X Factor’.
Seem familiar? It should. Last month at StePhest Colbchella ’013, after watching his career slip away in front of unamused Hyundai executives, the Stephen we love and know announced ‘This is Colbchella goddammit!! And it is time to dance!!’ and proceeded to host star studded dance party to Daft Punk’s ‘Get Lucky’, featuring the smooth moves of Bryan Cranston, Matt Damon, Hugh Laurie, Jon Stewart, Jeff Bridges, Tek Jansen and Henry Kissinger and a surprise appearance on ‘America’s Got Talent’.
What do you think Hubsters? Freakish coincidence or blatant rip-off?
