When news stories fall through the cracks, we here at Colbert News Hub find them for a post we call, In The Press.
Hello hubsters! It’s been a little while, but I’m (finally) here with the February edition. What’s particularly interesting to me in putting these monthly press recaps together is noticing the ways in which the show is rapidly changing. One thing they’ve done a lot more of in the past few weeks is opening the show with a short film, or a musical number, or an oddly endearing sketch with Steve Martin instead of the monologue, which gives a great energy to those episodes. And they just seem to be including more pre-taped pieces and sketches in general. Despite these changes, a lot of the arguments made in the articles you’ll find here, whether positive or negative, still hold. I’ve already mentioned my frustration with the lack of point of view in the political segments and interviews, and you’ll find similar claims in some of these articles. One of the most interesting arguments also talks about how Stephen should perhaps embrace rather than distance himself from aspects of his character that were really, perhaps, aspects of his own personality. You’ll also find, among other things, February ratings stats, a video about the lighting of the Ed Sullivan Theater, and a behind-the-scenes look at Stephen’s short appearance at the Grammys.

Hello again Hubsters! As we look back at January, I think we can all agree that the show seems to be hitting its stride and last week’s episodes were particularly strong, which is really good news considering that the Super Bowl special is only a few days away! But, for now, let’s look back at some of the articles you might have missed in January, including a story about young Colbert, The Late Show‘s latest weekly ratings, an Esquire article featuring Jon Batiste; and an interview with Samantha Bee, whose show will premiere on February 8th on TBS!

Hello hubsters, and Happy New Year! I know we’re already well into January, but, with the holidays and a busy beginning of the year, it took a little bit of extra time to put this December edition together. It’s a really good edition, though! There are some really great articles, and there’s the very special fact-checked ratings myth-busting you’ve all been waiting for. So, let’s get to it!

Hello again hubsters! As we are watching the two final weeks of shows this year (I know, I know—aren’t they just coming out of yet another break?), here are some of the articles you might have missed in November.
This month we have more stats, a survey of late-night audiences by The Hollywood Reporter, and some of the reaction that survey generated. Also, Splitsider weighed in on Trevor Noah’s performance since taking over The Daily Show.

Hi Hubsters! Can you believe two months have already passed since the premiere? Things seem to be settling down at The Late Show With Starring Stephen Colbert. The shows are becoming much more consistent and I already see some favorite regular segments emerge (personal favorites: Bedtime Stories and The Hungry For Power Games).
But let’s get right to it, because there are a lot of articles this month! The media has been paying a lot of attention to The Late Show’s unique blend of guests, so you’ll find a bunch of articles about that. You’ll find quotes by Conan O’Brien and Jimmy Kimmel weighing in on how Stephen has been doing so far. There’s a lot of talk of ad revenue and ratings of course. There are people getting angry at Stephen including the usual suspect, Fox News. There’s also a great article by someone who knew Stephen at The Second City, and a fun article about “achievement beards.”

Hi y’all! I hope you’ve all enjoyed these past few weeks as much as I have, because I am absolutely loving the new show!
Fun fact: There’s been over one month of The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, but at the end I’m still expecting to hear “That’s it for the Report” every single time.
Not-so-fun fact: There are no new shows next week… But fear not! You needn’t go nine full days without Stephen Colbert in your life! You can just take your time and read all these articles. There are fantastic background stories, there are adorable kids singing the Preamble of the Constitution, there’s hummus controversy, and much more!

Now that we are well into the second week of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, let’s take a look at what the media had to say about the first week.
The truth is, it’s hard to draw any conclusions from the first week—let alone the first episode—of a late-night talk show. But it has already given us so many reasons to be excited!
And as Erik Adams wrote in his A.V. Club article, “like the 2016 U.S. presidential election, talking about The Late Show With Stephen Colbert is too much fun to abstain from.”
