When news stories fall through the cracks, we here at Colbert News Hub find them for a post we call, In The Press.
Hello hubsters! My name is Louise, and I am your new “In The Press” correspondent. After lurking for a couple of years, I was given the opportunity to help the Nation keep up with the most important news of all: everything Colbert-related!
In February, Stephen reappeared for the first time since The Colbert Report ended, accompanied by a beard that didn’t go unnoticed, to say the least. But the big story last month came from former colleague Jon Stewart who announced he would be leaving The Daily Show later this year. We were all taken by surprise, if not by the decision itself (Jon had been hinting at the possibility for a while), then certainly by its timing, as most of us were expecting him to go through another Indecision cycle. Sadly, this wasn’t the only upsetting news out of the world of TV and journalism. Within the span of just three days, NBC’s Nightly News anchor Brian Williams got a six-month suspension, CBS correspondent Bob Simon died in a car accident, and New York Times writer David Carr died of lung cancer complications.
Almost two months after the news broke, we still don’t know when Jon Stewart will be leaving exactly, or who is going to replace him. People who looked like obvious candidates (Jessica Williams, Samantha Bee, Jason Jones) have already taken themselves out of the running.
Who would you guys want to see become the next host of The Daily Show, and how do you see the show changing in a post-Jon Stewart era? Also, what do you expect and/or want to see in Jon’s last episode?

New details have been released about “Rick and Morty” season 2 coming to Adult Swim this summer.
“Rick and Morty” was a huge breakout success that came from a web short done by Justin Roiland. When “Community” creator Dan Harmon temporarily fired from that show, he worked on “Rick and Morty,” which was an instant fan favorite. The show describes itself as “high concept sci-fi rigamarole.”
Not much is known about the second season though the creators have said it will have to do more with space and less with interdemensional travel. They have also teased one episode that will feature Beth and Jerry going to marriage counseling in space. Guest stars in this coming season include Jim Rash, Stephen Colbert and Werner Herzog in season two.

The Television Academy has announced changes to the rules governing entry into the various Primetime Emmy Awards categories. The changes are designed to better “reflect the increasingly varied and expanding television landscape.” The most notable change affecting ‘The Colbert Report’ and the ‘Late Show with Stephen Colbert’ is the division of the “Variety Series” category:
Split of Variety Series Category: The Variety Series category is now split – Outstanding Variety Talk, to be awarded during the Primetime Emmy telecast, and Outstanding Variety Sketch, to be included in the Creative Arts Emmy program.
