Trevor Noah has been selected to become the next host of the Emmy® and Peabody® Award-winning “The Daily Show,” it was announced today by Michele Ganeless, president, Comedy Central. His show’s premiere will be announced at a later date.
Noah joined “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” in 2014 as a contributor. He made his U.S. television debut in 2012 on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” and has also appeared on “Late Show with David Letterman,” becoming the first South African stand-up comedian to appear on either late night show. Born in South Africa to a black South African mother and a white European father, he has successfully become the top comedian in Africa. Noah has hosted numerous television shows including his own late night talk show in his native country, “Tonight with Trevor Noah.”
“Trevor Noah is an enormous talent. He has an insightful and unique point of view, and most importantly, is wickedly funny,” said Ganeless. “For the next host of ‘The Daily Show,’ we set out to find a fresh voice who can speak to our audience with a keen take on the events of the day, and we found that in Trevor. He has a huge international following and is poised to explode here in America, and we are thrilled to have him join Comedy Central.”
“It’s an honor to follow Jon Stewart. He and the team at ‘The Daily Show’ have created an incredible show whose impact is felt all over the world,” said Noah. “In my brief time with the show they’ve made me feel so welcome. I’m excited to get started and work with such a fantastic group of people.”
Said Jon Stewart: “I’m thrilled for the show and for Trevor. He’s a tremendous comic and talent that we’ve loved working with…In fact, I may rejoin as a correspondent just to be a part of it!!!”

Event Description: Directed by Jessica Edwards, MAVIS! is the first feature-length documentary on gospel/soul music legend and civil rights icon Mavis Staples and her family group, the Staple Singers. MAVIS! follows her unrivaled career through dynamic live performances, archival footage, captivating storytelling and interviews with friends and collaborators. She occupies a singular place in American music: a soldier of love and peace whose fight continues; her message of equality is needed now more than ever.

Tonight, the first part of CBS’ new look late night line up kicks off with the premiere of ‘The Late Late Show with James Corden‘ at 12:35am ET / 11:35pm CT with guests Tom Hanks and Mila Kunis.
We still have a ways to go before the ‘Late Show with Stephen Colbert‘ premieres on Tuesday, September 8th, but in the mean time, why not share your thoughts on James Cordens first week of shows.
Will you be tuning in regularly, or catching up online? Is Reggie Watts the late night band leader of your dreams? Should James have stayed in the UK, or will America fall in love with him? But most importantly, how do you think he and Stephen will complement one another?

First, I’d like to thank Sophia McClennen and Remy Maisel for taking the time to answer questions for us at The Hub. Their new book, ‘Is Satire Saving Our Nation: Mockery and American Politics?‘, argues that political satire is more than just fun: it’s a way of becoming an engaged and informed citizen — especially for Millennials. Obviously, both The Colbert Report and The Daily Show play a large role in McClennen/Maisel’s argument!
As a person who has always believed in the power of comedy to reach people, this is an argument I can fully endorse.

Stephen Colbert once battled Jon Stewart over who could lay claim to the title of biggest “Star Wars” fan on the planet. Mr. Stewart may have won that round, but Mr. Colbert’s expertise will be put to the test again when he sits down for a public conversation with George Lucas on April 17, one of several events, including talks with Courtney Love and Harvey Weinstein, announced Monday by organizers of the Tribeca Film Festival.
The festival runs April 15-26. For complete lineup and ticket information, see tribecafilm.com.

Speaking at the Deutsche Bank 2015 Media, Internet and Telecom Conference in Florida, Les Moonves was asked about the upcoming debut of ‘The Late Late Show with James Corden’ later this month, and the ‘Late Show with Stephen Colbert’ in September.
Moonves said it was an “extremely” exciting time for CBS as no network has ever replaced two late-night hosts in the same year.
Colbert’s show will be less expensive than David Letterman’s, plus CBS owns it, meaning it can also make revenue off ancillary businesses, Moonves said. He said there was “real potential” for profit upside in the next few years. He didn’t mention specific financials.
